Writing to Change the World

We have been writing songs, signs, petitions, and letters to change the world. Today we delivered and hung up our work around school. Dr. Stryjewski got letters asking for swings on the kindergarten playground, an indoor pool, and other fun stuff. Enjoy a few pics...

This one made me smile extra big!  When they want to keep writing, that's THE BEST!!!!

We played a game of kickball and enjoyed some ice cream this afternoon as a school-wide celebration for working so hard this year!

Mystery Reader and Other Scoop

Thanks, Mr. Menghini!!

Subtraction flashcards are in folders today, along with Culver's "free kid meal" coupons.  Everyone gets one, regardless if he/she has had perfect attendance.

I wanted to let you guys know that kiddos will have a sub on the last day of school, May 30th.  My family is headed to Disney, and we are leaving May 29th.  I hate to miss the last day, but with all of those crazy snow days, that's the way it has turned out.

Spiral notebooks are being sent home today, we did not end up using them.
They would make great summer journals or could be used in 1st grade.

Junior Achievement Fun

Mr. J.C. and Ms. Michelle were volunteers from Panera who spent the morning with us today.  Junior Achievement's volunteer-delivered, kindergarten-12th grade programs foster work-readiness, entrepreneurship and financial literacy skills, and use experiential learning to inspire students to dream big and reach their potential. With the help of more than 202,000 volunteers, JA students develop the skills they need to experience the realities and opportunities of work and entrepreneurship in the 21st-century global marketplace. We thank Panera for their time and commitment to our school.

Big Thanks from Mrs. Cooksey and Happy Mother's Day!

All that I can say is WOW!!  Thank you SO MUCH for all of the treats this week!! I feel incredibly lucky to get to come to a job that I absolutely adore, and work with wonderful families like you guys! I swear that I say this every year, but this is SERIOUSLY my favorite class in 18 years!!!
Thanks again!!!
PS  If you don't see what you sent in here, that's because I already ate it!!!  YUM!!!

Kiddos can buy Culver's ice cream in the cafeteria on Thursdays and Fridays until the end of the year.  Ice cream costs  $1, so send in an envelope marked "Lunch Account" with your kiddo's name on it, and we'll deposit it into his/her lunch account.  The lunch room does not accept cash.
